Creating a next-day wedding video social edit
I absolutely love the whole process of crafting a wedding video - and that includes creating a next-day social media video edit!
Once I’d got home from the wonderful Tom and Danielle’s wedding at Styal Lodge, Cheshire, I backed up all my files, had a quick kip and did the school run, then got straight into editing a social media video edit for them.
For those who like to know a little more detail, I group shots into moments and then go through each file to pull out the best bits. Then rinse and repeat until I have my best bits ready.
Then it’s all about showing the emotions of the day but in a sub-one minute clip, optimised for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and any other social media!
For Tom and Danielle I wanted to pick out glamorous shots that showed off how stunning a day they’d had - this included shots of Danielle’s dress, smiles at the altar, couple shots (and some gorgeous golden light!), cake cut and first dance.
When a wedding has looked so good, there’s not much editing that needs doing.
A quick colour grade, sound design and audio track, then sent to the lovely couple while the sun was still out.
It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to do this for more couples!

Second wedding shot in Bolton!
Wez and Beth had a brilliant day in Bolton, with so much laughter, emotion and joy spread throughout their wedding.
Both of them were so easy going and friendly and a real pleasure to work with - Beth had tears in my eyes from the amount of times she remembered she had a microphone one!
I’m still a little disappointed none of their dogs made an appearance, but I understand why!
It was great to meet and work with the lovely Joe Hague too. Thanks for all your help, Joe!
The dance floor simply didn’t empty and I’m so glad you guys had such a great day.
Thank you for bringing me in to capture such a special day.

Wedding one shot in Cheshire!
It was so good to shoot my first wedding, and what a couple Tom and Danielle are!
Their venue was the stunning Styal Lodge in Cheshire, with the weather providing glorious sunshine all day - and gorgeous golden hour shots too.
Every moment of their day made me smile, especially when they caught a sneak peek of their lake shots, saying “we’re so glad we have you here to capture these moments.”
Tom and Danielle’s photographer was the wonderful Ness. I couldn't have wished for a better person to work alongside - if you’re looking for a photographer I’d recommend her without hesitation. She is the golden light queen!
It was also really good fun creating a next-day edit for their socials, which you can see on this page.
Thank you Tom and Danielle once again for having me along to capture your day, it was magical and I wish you a lifetime of happiness with Bruce and what is to come for you both!
You can read more of their comments on the testimonial page.

Four weddings and a testimonial
Today I had a call with a couple who were looking for a videographer to shoot their upcoming Cheshire wedding.
A big reason they rang was they were worried about making sure they would capture every moment, and didn’t just want to rely on the footage their mates would get on phones.
We spoke in depth about how I can take that worry away from them, and let them just relax and be in the moment of their special day.
It was fantastic to talk with them about their day and I can’t wait to capture their full day.
I’m sure I’m supposed to say phrases like ‘the calendar is filling up’, ‘book now to guarantee’ and ‘not much availability left’, but I’m not one to tell fibs.
I am excited though that I have four weddings booked in so far for 2025, and four testimonials to shoot for a local wedding venue.
Setting up a freelance business is of course going to take a while, but I’m really pleased so many people have put their faith in me to deliver some stunning videography and I’m looking forward to delivering on that!

Day two shoot at North West wedding venue
Day two of our weekend shoot at a Georgian Bolton wedding venue was a blast!
Our team of wedding photographer, dresser, venue manager and me set up and shot five different ceremony options, numerous breakfast options and even what an evening would look like.
It was a lot of fun but now the editing work begins!

Day one shoot at a Georgian wedding venue
Today I had the pleasure of shooting at a North West wedding venue.
I was there to capture five different areas they wanted to highlight for couples looking for their perfect venue.
This included two larger spaces, two intimate - including a stunning outdoor space - and one in between.
It was a great opportunity to carry on building my portfolio and create some fantastic content for the venue.
Tomorrow I’m back there for day two of the shoot before the editing begins!

Meeting with a Bolton wedding venue
It was lovely to go to a Bolton wedding venue today to talk about shooting all the different options they have for people considering them as a venue.
They have set up a weekend shoot in a couple of weeks and I’m incredibly excited to have been asked to provide their video content.
I’m going to be creating their promotional videos - my style is to capture the reality but in a cinematic way. I’ve just taken delivery of a professional gimbal so those sweeping shots should now be a dream to create!
This shoot should really help me to show you how I can capture your day and help you remember those memories forever.

A little trip to an amazing North West wedding flower shop
Today I visited Flowersmiths in Horwich, to take some snaps of their fantastic shop and create a social media short for them.
Flowersmiths has the most amazing array of flowers, as well as other produce (we use them for refillable detergents!), and their Instagram shows just how beautiful their wedding arrangements are.
They are well worth a visit and are so welcoming and friendly.
It was also lovely to see the local female photography club when I was there - best of luck on your photography journey, ladies!

Here we go!
Today is a momentus day - I have my first bookings in my new career!
As someone who works 9-5 in PR, digital and communications, with a specialty in videography, I've decided to make moves towards a return to being freelance and working in the wedding industry.
My wedding experience comes from numerous years and countless weddings throughout the UK as the drummer for a wedding band in the Midlands. Seeing people so full of joy as they celebrate the happy couple is incredible, and I really wanted to get back into seeing that first hand.
So here I am, starting out as a freelance wedding videographer.
And today I met with two local businesses so I can build my portfolio! While I've been specialising in video for many years, it's always been for a business or organisation - so I need to show you all how I will help you remember your special day forever. One business makes the most gorgeous bouquets, and the other is a fantastic Georgian venue.
From these meetings I have plans in place to highlight the incredible services they both offer, a handful of testimonials to film, as well as my first wedding booking for later in the year.
Watch this space to see my portfolio grow and how I can help you capture your cherished memories!
